Editor's note: PGATOUR.COM has tried to make our experts work a little harder when they make their picks each week. The favorite can be anyone in the field, although Tiger Woods could only be used seven times during the year. Sleepers can't have won in 2008 or had a top 10 in their last five starts. A sleeper can't be ranked in the top 30 in the field, either.

Pick: Mike Weir
Aside from the easy reason -- he's the defending champion -- Weir has been playing his best golf of the season lately. In his last 11 starts, Weir has picked up six top-10 finishes, the best of which was a sole second performance at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Just last week in Las Vegas, Weir put together matching 66s on the weekend to tie for 10th. He's going to be the man to beat in Scottsdale.

Pick: Aaron Baddeley
Other than a tie for second at the Verizon Heritage, we haven't heard much out of Badds this year. Still, he's been playing consistent golf -- two top-15 finishes in his last four starts -- and could earn his second win in the Scottsdale area.

Pick: Mike Weir
Yes, he could defend. Rested, he played well in Vegas. When he's on a roll, he's a factor. Still, he might have to beat Aaron Baddeley to do it.

Pick: Davis Love III
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Love is getting closer as his game continues to come around.

Pick: Davis Love III
I have been on the Davis Love III bandwagon all summer. It only took me seven months to start looking smart. He is riding his first high in several years and going to a golf course that should suit his game. Look for Davis to keep the ball rolling at a course where he won't have to shoot 30 under par to compete.

Pick: Tim Herron
Herron's playing well with three top-10s in his last five starts. His final-round 62 in Las Vegas rocketed him from a tie for 47th to a tie for sixth. At Grayhawk in 2007, he tied for 27th. This could be the week he comes back with a victory -- the fifth of his career and only his second since 1999.

Pick: Mike Weir
He's the defending champ here and he's been especially on his game over the last four months (eight cuts in a row, five top-10s). I can't look away from that kind of consistency.

Pick: Davis Love III
I like the way he's playing with top-10s in two of his last three starts. Four rounds in the 60s last week should do wonders for his confidence, as well as whet the appetite for what could be his 20th win. A Love victory on Sunday would be an extremely popular one, too.

Pick: Aaron Baddeley
Last shall be first? He was the last player to commit to the field, but the Aussie who now makes his home down the street in Scottsdale has to be among the favorites, especially considering his last win came at the 2007 FBR Open at nearby TPC Scottsdale.
