PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.-- In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Ike, PGA TOUR star and Houston resident, K.J. Choi through his K.J. Choi Foundation has decided to donate $100,000 from his FedExCup bonus pool money to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund.

Choi, a Woodlands resident for five years, was struck with the damage caused by Ike and decided to take action. "As a Houstonian I felt the impact of this storm first-hand, along with my neighbors and hope my donation will help my fellow residents get back on their feet."

PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem said, "The scope of the devastation on the Gulf Coast is tragic, we commend K.J. for his generous donation and commitment to the community he calls home."

The K.J. Choi Foundation was established in October 2007 in Seoul, Korea with the purpose of expanding Choi's donation activities into a more organized and systematic approach, and to instill hope to the children of the future and to the victims of unforeseen tragic events.

The K.J. Choi Foundation also strives to contribute to the growth of golf through various developmental programs for the youth.

The Greater Houston Community Foundation began operations in 1995 and is comprised of over $230 million in assets and more than 500 funds. The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund is modeled after the successful Katrina/Rita Fund. The money will be granted to those nonprofit organizations that provide immediate relief in the area ? that is, shelter and temporary housing, food and household supplies, transportation and child care.
