Steve Stricker, Hunter Mahan
Tee time:
1:50 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 5
Why you should watch: It didn't seem like Steve Stricker would have any kind of an advantage this week at The Barclays. He is the defending champion, but the tournament is being played at a different venue. Someone apparently forgot to tell Stricker. He fired a 7-under 64 on Friday and at 10 under, he'll start the third round with a three-shot lead over Hunter Mahan. For his part, Mahan went way low in round 1, scorching the course to the tune of a 9-under 62. He struggled in round 2 with a 1-over 73, but is still plenty close enough to make a run on the weekend.

Kenny Perry, Sergio Garcia
Tee time:
1:30 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 19
Why you should watch: What a pairing. Two of the best players on the planet this year will start the third round at 6 under, trailing Stricker by four shots. Kenny Perry, a three-time winner this season, is showing no ill effects from an eye injury that forced him to withdraw from the PGA Championship after the first round. PLAYERS Champion Sergio Garcia, on the other hand, seems to have bounced back just fine from another disappointing runner-up finish at a major. Both players shot 4-under 67s on Friday and look for them to keep the solid play going as the tournament wears on.

Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Perry 22 20 3 1 1 7 12 70.04

Mike Weir, Ben Curtis
Tee time:
12:40 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 11
Why you should watch: Mike Weir took some advice from fellow Canadian and former hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky -- grow a playoff-beard. It's working brilliantly so far, as Weir is 3 under through 36 holes. He's got work to do, but he can get it done. The same goes for Ben Curtis. He's still skying after a tie for second at the PGA Championship a couple of weeks ago.

2008 Stat Comparison
Player Events Played Cuts Made 1st 2nd 3rd Top 10 Top 25 Scoring Avg.
Weir 20 14 -- 1 -- 3 8 71.46
Curtis 18 14 -- 2 -- 3 5 71.44
