Padraig Harrington's victory at the 2008 PGA Championship can be greatly attributed to his play on the par-3 holes down the stretch in the final round. On the back nine on Sunday, Harrington birdied both par-3s, including a spectacular birdie on the 17th hole to take the lead. Harrington is the third major champion since 1995 to birdie both par-3 holes on the back nine of the final round of a major. Harrington joins Phil Mickelson at the 2004 Masters and Mark O'Meara at the 1998 British Open.

In the third round, Harrington had a streak of four consecutive birdies. This ties the longest birdie streak of Harrington's major championship career. In both the 2000 and 2003 British Open, Harrington also made four consecutive birdies.
