Every tournament I have played so far has held a special place in my golf memory. Starting at the Sony Open in Hawaii -- being the first PGA TOUR event as a member of the TOUR. It is also the place where I first met our Citi team mentor Paul Azinger and our team members, Parker Mclachlin, Todd Demsey, and David Lutterus.

AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am ... need I say more? It is the most beautiful place I've ever been. The Wachovia Championship and the Memorial Tournament; where every player gets treated like a king. But the John Deere Classic will be memorable because it was the best finish of the year up to this point. I finished tied for 18th and made $52,000 or so. This finish moved me from 173rd on the FedExCup points list to 161st. Although it's not exactly the place I want to be, I am encouraged that I'm moving in the right direction.
I have been working very hard this year on having a positive attitude. The challenge has been keeping my head up high even when things haven't been up to par. I've had many missed cuts and many over-par rounds. But this past week, I was able to keep my mind fresh and really stayed out of my own way.
I did this with the help of Dr. Travis Fox, who taught me how to perceive myself as a golfer and as a person. We worked on being more relaxed and seeing myself differently, as a happy-go-lucky kind of person. I asked for Dr. Fox's help because I was tired of playing the game that I love, on the best TOUR in the world, and not enjoying every moment of it. I realized last week that enjoying what I do will promote better results.
It is Wednesday of the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. On most Wednesdays this year, I would be out at the course hitting balls and chipping and putting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Right now, I am sitting in my hotel room eating buffalo wings, watching Live from the British Open, texting my friends, and writing this blog at the same time!
This is one of the things I have learned this year. As rookies on TOUR, we are so caught up with having to do more and prove more. I realized all my energy was wasted by the time Saturday and Sunday came around. As I learn how to relax and keep fresh come Sundays, I'm sure I'll have better and better results the rest of the year.
This trip, my wife and baby did not come to the tournament. I asked them to stay home for four weeks because I wanted my full attention at making the the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup ... I didn't realize just how much I would miss them. As I mature, the more I realize that golf is just something I do, and family is what I love.
