Tiger Woods is the fifth player to win the U.S. Open after not playing in a tournament since the Masters earlier in the year. In the four rounds of regulation play, he made 16 birdies or better and 14 bogeys or worse. This represents a birdie-to-bogey ratio of 1.14 -- nearly double the field average of 0.6. He was second in this statistic only to runner-up Rocco Mediate, who had 14 birdies against 12 bogeys for a ratio of 1.17.
