Paul Goydos was America's sweetheart a week ago, falling just short in his unlikely bid to win THE PLAYERS Championship. He lost in a one-hole playoff to Sergio Garcia.

Fast forward five days and unfortunately Goydos won't be around to give his new fans something to cheer. With rounds of 73-72 for a 1-over par total, Goydos missed the 36-hole cut in the AT&T Classic at TPC Sugarloaf by one shot.
In all, 76 made the cut, which fell at even-par 144, including defending champion Zach Johnson -- a two-time winner in Duluth. At 5-under par, Johnson will begin the third round trailing leader Jonathan Byrd (12 under) by seven shots.
Stewart Cink (5 under), a Georgia Tech alum who is enjoying the comfort if his own bed this week as he lives at TPC Sugarloaf, joins other notables Kenny Perry (9 under), Charles Howell III (8 under), David Toms (8 under) and Camilo Villegas (5 under) who are all within seven shots of the lead.
Ryuji Imada, who finished runner up to Johnson after a playoff at TPC Sugarloaf in 2007, finished his first 36 holes in 4-under par, as did Steve Elkington.
Among those who will be taking an unwanted weekend off along with Goydos are Atlanta resident Billy Andrade (1 over), two-time AT&T Classic winner Scott McCarron (2 over), Lucas Glover (2 over), course-designer Greg Norman (7 over) and David Duval (11 over).
