ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The World Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village Monday was an integral part to the opening day of filming for GOLF CHANNEL's new original reality series "Highway 18," which featured a surprise visit from Hall of Fame member Arnold Palmer.
While on site at World Golf Village, teams were charged with taking a shot on the Hall of Fame's Challenge Hole and then racing to the Trophy Tower where they encountered a grand surprise when Palmer greeted them upon arrival before receiving their next challenge.
"Highway 18" will follow five, two-person teams competing in a golf "road rally," where a variety of landmarks and little-known places will provide contestants a playing ground over 10 weekly episodes. Players will try to navigate their way through golf challenges both on and off the golf course that will demand cooperation and ingenuity in order to survive elimination.
The series is scheduled to premiere on GOLF CHANNEL July 22.
World Golf Hall of Fame is the ultimate destination for the celebration and recognition of golf's greatest players and contributors and an inspiration to golfers and fans throughout the world. A collaboration of 26 national and international golf organizations support the Hall of Fame, including the PGA TOUR, LPGA, USGA, Augusta National, PGA of America and The R&A.
The museum houses interactive exhibits and historic and personal artifacts that tell the stories of its members and the game of golf. The Hall of Fame is located at World Golf Village, a resort destination celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2008. For more information, visit their Web site.
