The Copperhead at at Innisbrook Resort is one of the toughest courses on the PGA TOUR, and again challenged some of the best players in the world last weekend at the PODS Championship. The 7,340-yard par 71 averaged almost two strokes over par -- the highest yet of the 2008 season. On this difficult layout, players have to work to avoid big numbers, and grind to save par around the greens. The keys to victory this week for Sean O'Hair were bogey avoidance and scrambling.
O'Hair scored over par on just eight holes during the entire event, in addition to ranking fourth in the field in scrambling -- getting up and down for par 18 out of the 24 times he missed the green in regulation. Stewart Cink, who began the final round with a two-shot lead, was over par on five holes in the final round alone. He ranked 45th in scrambling for the event, saving par in just 13 of 23 attempts.
