BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Craig Stadler, one of three players tied for the lead after two rounds of the Allianz Championship, is bidding to win his first event since the 2004 SAS Championship and end a 47-event victory drought on the Champions Tour. He's also trying to claim his second career win in the state of Florida (2004 ACE Group Classic).

Jay Haas has never won on either the PGA TOUR or Champions Tour in Florida (0-103 official events). His best career finish in the Sunshine State was a T2 at the 2003 PLAYERS Championship. Mark James has not won since the 2005 ACE Group Classic in Naples, Fla., a run of 30 Champions Tour tournaments without a victory.

• Jay Haas was in the final group five times last year, winning twice (Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, Administaff Small Business Classic). Craig Stadler was in the last group three times in 2006 and last at the Boeing Championship at Sandestin (T3) in May of that year. Mark James was last in the final group at the 2005 SBC Championship (3rd) in October of that year.

• A total of 240 Charles Schwab Cup points will be awarded to the winner on Sunday. At the end of the official season, the player with the most Schwab Cup points will earn a $1-million annuity. Through two official events in 2007, Hale Irwin leads with 290 points, followed by Tom Kite with 249 points and Fred Funk with 240 points.

• Mark James is the only player in the 79-man field to have played bogey-free golf through 36 holes.

• With similar conditions to Friday, the scoring average for the Old Course at Broken Sound was slightly lower Saturday (71.367 vs. 71.051). There were 20 rounds in the 60s today compared to 22 sub-70 scores Friday, but 50 players broke par in Round 2 versus 40 players on Friday.

• The 207-yard, par-3, 14th hole has yielded just eight birdies over the first two days. Conversely, the 507-yard, par-5 18th hole has yielded four eagles and 38 birdies through two rounds.

Loren Roberts kept his impressive string of sub-par rounds going with a 2-under 70 Saturday. Roberts now has 22 straight sub-par rounds, a streak that dates back to an opening-round 67 at the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach last fall. Roberts' run of sub-70 scores in 2007 ended at seven consecutive.

Gary Player matched his age with a 1-under 71 Saturday. It was the 15th time in his career that the 71-year-old Player has either matched or bettered his age. Six of those times he has bettered his age.

• After carding a second consecutive 71, World Golf Hall of Famer Nick Price is nine strokes off the lead after 36 holes. Price is bidding to become the 12th player in Champions Tour history to win in his debut on the circuit.

Bruce Fleisher was the only player in the field to hit all 14 fairways today. Keith Fergus hit all 18 greens in regulation on Saturday. Doug Johson had 11 one-putts. John Jacobs' 335-yard drive at the par-5 11th hole was the longest measured tee shot today.
