SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -The Thunderbirds, hosts of the FBR Open, announced that a new PGA TOUR event will be coming to Scottsdale, Oct. 15-21, 2007. Part of the TOUR's Fall Series, the Fry's Electronics Open will be played at Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course, and will feature a full-field (132 players), four-day tournament with a $5 million purse and $900,000 first place prize to the winner. As with all 2007 Fall Series events, the Fry's Electronics Open will be aired all four days on GOLF CHANNEL.

"Obviously this is a huge coup for Scottsdale and the Valley to land a second PGA TOUR event in 2007," said Thunderbird Big Chief Mike Haenel. "The overwhelming success of the FBR Open clearly illustrates this is a golf town that can support multiple TOUR events. We look forward to bringing the same level of excitement and fan enthusiasm we see at the FBR Open to the TOUR's Fall Series."

"With such a large contingent of TOUR professionals already living here in the Valley, we should have a strong field vying for the championship," added Tournament Chairman Greg Hoyt. "Needless to say, we're excited to be hosting the game's best for a second time in 2007."

The FBR Open began as the Arizona Open in 1932 and has been held in Phoenix or Scottsdale ever since. Past winners include ASU alum Phil Mickelson, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Vijay Singh.

"With over 70 years of experience successfully hosting a PGA TOUR event, the Thunderbirds were a natural choice when the TOUR was looking for a temporary home for the Fry's Electronics Open," said PGA TOUR Vice President of Tournament Business Affairs Duke Butler. "Add to that Grayhawk Golf Club's experience of hosting multiple PGA TOUR sanctioned events and the Phoenix/Scottsdale area made perfect sense as the interim home for this event."
