• North Carolina State grad Carl Pettersson birdied three of his final five holes Friday and finished with a 5-under-par 67. Pettersson, a member of the Board of Directors for the Wyndham Championship, is at 11-under 133 for the tournament.

• Friday's 36-hole cut came at 5-under 139, the lowest 36-hole cut on the 2007 PGA TOUR. The previous low this year was 3 under at the Buick Invitational. The last time on TOUR the cut was at 5 under par was the 2006 FUNAI Classic at Walt Disney World Resort.

• The cut of 5-under-par 139 is the lowest 36-hole cut in this event since the tournament moved to Forest Oaks Country Club in 1977. The previous low was 3 under par in both 2004 and 2005.

• A season-high 86 players made the 36-hole cut this week. The previous high this year was 85 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Wachovia Championship. This is the most players to make the 36-hole cut on the PGA TOUR since the 2006 Frys.com Open, when 90 players advanced to the weekend.

• Saturday and Sunday's play will be in threesomes off both the 1st and 10th tees in order to accommodate a 4:00 p.m. ET finish for television coverage.

• Friday's three-way tie atop the leaderboard marks the first time more than two players have shared the 36-hole lead in this event since 1989, when Ken Green, Dave Eichelberger, Jim Booros and Duffy Waldorf were tied at the top at 5-under 139.

• The most players tied for the 36-hole lead on the PGA TOUR this year is six at the Shell Houston Open.

Steve Marino, a rookie on the PGA TOUR this year, has put together his best back-to-back rounds of his brief career (65-67). Marino's 132 total bettered his previous best of 135 at the Travelers Championship in June.

• Steve Marino has never held/shared a lead of any kind on the PGA TOUR. He is making his 25th career TOUR start and his 23rd start in 2007 this week. He has made the cut in 16 of 22 start this year, and has four top-10 finishes. His best finish this year/career is a tie for sixth at the AT&T Classic. The previous best position he's been in after 36 holes was tied for seventh at both the 2007 EDS Byron Nelson Championship and the Travelers Championship.

John Huston has held/shared the 36-hole lead eight times in his PGA TOUR career. The last time he did so came in the 2005 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, when he was 12 under through two days and led by one stroke. He went on to finish tied for 17th two years ago. Huston is making his 15th start in Greensboro and his best finish is a second-place in 1989, when he wound up two strokes back of winner Ken Green.

• Huston is making his 510th career start on the PGA TOUR this week. He has made 4 cuts in 10 starts this year, and his best finish in 2007 is a tie for 37th at the Reno-Tahoe Open last week. He ranks No. 217 on both the FedExCup points list and the money list, and finished No. 159 on the 2006 money list, his lowest spot since becoming a full-time member of the PGA TOUR in 1988.

• What are the odds that a pair of Indiana University golfers would be near the top of the leaderboard? Hoosier grads Jeff Overton (2005, Sports Management) shares the lead at 12-under 132 and Steve Wheatcroft (2001, Sports Marketing) is two shots back at 10-under 134. The two never played together at IU, but Wheatcroft helped recruit Overton to the Bloomington campus.

Tim Petrovic holed an eagle putt of 82 feet, 2 inches on the par-5 second hole Friday. His putt ranks as the fourth-longest made on the PGA TOUR this year. The longest belongs to Ben Curtis, who drained a putt of 100 feet, 1 inch.

• Tim Petrovic continues to recover from his opening-day troubles, when he started the tournament with a double bogey, bogey combination. Despite being 3 over par after two holes, Petrovic finshed with a 4-under 68 Thursday. Friday, the Massachusetts-born Petrovic started his round with a birdie-eagle combination. He eventually got to 12 under par through 15 holes but finished par-bogey-par to join Carl Pettersson at 11-under 133.

• Rookie Steve Wheatcroft is 32 of 32 on putts inside of 10 feet so far this week. His 65 Friday is his best round of the year, and he has made 14 of 24 cuts this year. His best finish this year is a tie for 12th at the Crowne Plaza Invitational
