AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am: Third-Round Notebook PGA TOUR Media Official PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Including this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Phil Mickelson has now held or shared the 54-hole lead of a stroke-play event twenty-two times on the PGA TOUR. Mickelson has closed the deal 15 of the previous 21 times in stroke-play events. Two of the 54-hole leads were at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (2001, 2005), with a victory at the 2005 event. If Mickelson goes on to win Sunday, he'd make the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am the fourth PGA TOUR event of his career that he's won three or more times. The other three events are the BellSouth Classic (2000, 2005, 2006); Buick Invitational (1993, 2000, 2001; and Chrysler Classic of Tucson (1991, 1995, 1996) ![]() Kevin Sutherland is again playing well on the West Coast. Kevin Sutherland birdied the 18th hole at Poppy Hills to cap a bogey-free 67 and is tied for the lead through 54 holes. This is the second time Sutherland has led or shared a 54-hole lead on the PGA TOUR. His previous 54-hole lead came 10 years ago at the 1997 Shell Houston Open, where he lost in a playoff to Phil Blackmar. A win for Phil Mickelson would be his 30th career TOUR win, tying him with Leo Diegel and Vijay Singh for 16th all time. Singh won his 30th earlier this year at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. Watson is looking for his first top-25 finish since a T18 at the 2003 British Open. John Mallinger (3), Jeff Overton (T6) and Craig Kanada (T6) are three players in the top 10 looking for their first PGA TOUR victory.
