BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- Paraguay's Marco Ruiz won the Argentina Open on Sunday, shooting a 1-under 69 for a two-stroke victory over Argentina's Daniel Vancsik. The tournament was co-sanctioned by the Tour de las Americas and the European Challenge Tour.

The 33-year-old Ruiz, sidelined most of the year by a back injury, had a 5-under 275 total on the Buenos Aires Golf Club course. He earned $33,330. Vancsik also shot a 69.

Argentine star Angel Cabrera, the U.S. Open champion and third-round leader, closed with a 76 to tie for third at even par.

"I didn't expect to win," Ruiz said. "Cabrera was the huge favorite and the pressure was obviously on his side. That allowed me to relax and focus on my game. A dream came true for me today."

Cabrera, two strokes ahead after opening rounds of 66, 68 and 70, had three bogeys, a double bogey, a triple bogey and two birdies Sunday.

"I was unable to find any rhythm all day long," Cabrera said. "I started badly and when I decided to take risks, I missed."
