VERSAILLES, France (AP) -- Simon Khan took a one-stroke lead Friday at the French Open after shooting a second round 67 to move an overall 5-under.

Paul McGinley of Ireland shot 69, and Colin Montgomerie of Scotland ended with 70, to tie for second place.

"I hit the ball well yesterday (Thursday)," Khan said. "Today I played even better, finding the fairways and the greens. I took my chance today, notably by sinking a few putts from four meters (yards)."

Montgomerie birdied the last hole to join McGinley in the clubhouse on 4-under 138.

Overnight co-leader Kyron Sullivan of Wales shot 74 to drop two behind Khan, and was joined at 3-under by Denmark's Thomas Bjorn, and English players Zane Scotland and Tom Whitehouse.

The other overnight leader, James Kamte of South Africa, faded with a 7-over 78.

Sweden's Christian Nilsson looked in form but ended badly with a quadruple bogey on the last hole and a 5-over 76 amid strong winds and rain at the National Golf Albatross course on the outskirts of Paris.
