Only 15 players broke par in the wind, led by Robert Allenby and Henrik Stenson's 67. Nine of the 15 players that broke par are international players. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Howell 5:30 p.m. Charles Howell's day started poorly -- he was two-over after his first four holes, but he rallied with one of the best back nines of the day, a 33....Howell, who led the FedExCup points for a chunk of this season, needed only 26 putts.... Jim Furyk is also done, he shot a 2-under 70....Furyk closed with seven straight pars and had just one bogey. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Bjorn 5 p.m. Thomas Bjorn has completed his five-birdie, one-bogey round.....Bjorn had a chance to catch the leaders on his final hole of the day, but his 13-foot birdie putt skirted the cup.....Aaron Baddeley is also in the clubhouse after closing with two birdies in his final four holes....Baddeley finished with a 69, his best round since a 69 in the Nissan Open last month. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Woods 4:35 p.m. Robert Allenby is in the clubhouse with a 5-under 6....Allenby was a chipping machine, missing seven of 18 greens but needing only 24 putts.....Allenby finished in par-birdie-par...Tiger Woods has finished his round of 71...Woods, like Ernie Els, finished with 32 putts...Olazabal missed the green on the par-3 ninth hole Anne finished with a 3-under 69. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Stenson 4:15 p.m. Henrik Stenson is in the clubhouse with the low round of the day, a 5-under 67....Stenson's round included two bogeys and seven birdies....Stenson didn't hit the wall perfectly -- he hit only 43 percent of the fairways -- but he needed only 26 putts.....Ernie Els bogeyed the par-4 18th hole to finish at 2-under....Els had 32 putts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Els 3:45 p.m. After a bogey on his 15th hole of the day, Robert Allenby dropped back to 4-under par and into a three-way share of the lead with Jose Maria Olazabal and Henrik Stenson. Stenson clawed back to the top with a birdie at No. 7, his 16th of the day, while Olazabal has been steady with three consecutive pars. Ernie Els was one back at 3-under. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Allenby 3:25 p.m. With a birdie at the fifth hole -- his 14th of the day -- Robert Allenby took sole-possession of the lead at 5-under par. That was one shot better than Jose Maria Olazabal and two better than Henrik Stenson, Ernie Els and Jim Furyk. Adam Scott was struggling at 4-over par through 14 holes. His round included a 10 at the par-5 10th. He followed it up with two-straight birdies before taking a bogey at No. 13. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Stenson 2:55 p.m. After a bogey on No. 3 -- his 12th hole of the day -- World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Champion Henrik Stenson bounced back with a birdie at No. 4 to get back to 3-under for the day and one off the lead shared by Jose Maria Olazabal and Robert Allenby... Tiger Woods also took a bogey at No. 3 and dropped back to 1-under par. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Rollins 2:40 p.m. Robert Allenby has just birdied the first hole to take the lead at 4-under....Charley Hoffman got to red figures with back-to-back birdies at the 15th and 16th, but he bogeyed the 18th to move back to even par.....John Rollins has moved to two-under with a birdie at the short par-4 16th hole...Rollins has already scored three top-five finishes in 2007, including a fifth last week at Bay Hill. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Olazabal 2:20 p.m. Reports have the winds at Doral sustained at 29 mph with gusts approaching 50 mph....Tiger Woods has just hit the par-5 first hole in two shots....Jose Maria Olazabal's birdie streak ended with a bogey on the par-4 18th, so Olazabal will make the turn in 33.....Henrik Stenson has just re-taken a share of the lead with a birdie on the par-5 first hole.....Rod Pampling has also gotten to three-under after scoring his second straight birdie....Woods two-putted for birdie at the par-5 first, moving him to 3-under on the day. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Casey 1:55 p.m. Paul Casey has become the third player on the day to eagle the par-5 first hole, but the eagle only got him back to three-over on the round.....Casey had back-to-back double bogeys to close his front nine....Phil Mickelson is off to a slow start, as he double-bogeyed the par-4 third hole....Jose Maria Olazabal has just taken the lead with his fourth straight birdie....Henrik Stenson has just birdied the par-5 first hole (his 10th hole of the day) to get to 3-under. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Garcia 1:35 p.m. Robert Allenby is the first player to get to 3-under.....Allenby bombed his drive at the short par-4 16th to the greenside bunker, where he blasted to seven feet....Sergio Garcia, who played the back nine first, has just made the day's second eagle....Garcia, like Els, eagled the short par-5 first hole....the eagle makes Garcia 4-under in his last four holes...Jose Maria Olazabal has made his third straight birdie to get to 3-under....Olazabal has played in six tournaments this year on the PGA TOUR but has yet to score a top-10. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Baddeley 1 p.m. Aaron Baddeley has made bogey on 13th after missing the green....Henrik Stenson is the second player of the day to string together back-to-back birdies....Stenson birdied the 14th and the 15th to move to two-under....After starting his round with back-to-back birdies, Tiger Woods has strung together three pars...Jim Furyk, who skipped Bay Hill last week to rest his wrist, opened his round with a birdie at the par-5 first hole...the first hole continues to be owned by the players, who have already racked up 14 birdies and an eagle there. No one has bogeyed the hole....Mark Wilson, bidding for a spot in The Masters next month, opened his round with a birdie. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Allenby 12:34 p.m. Paul Goydos and Ben Curtis, who each opened with birdies, each went 3-over in their next four holes....the par-5 first hole has already given up seven birdies and an eagle...the par-5 10th hole has also already given up seven birdies...Ernie Els has back to one-over after three-putting the par-4 fifth hole....Aaron Baddeley, one of the best putters on TOUR, has just sank a 25-foot putt on the twelfth hole for his second birdie of the day....Robert Allenby is back to one-under after bogeying the par-3 thirteenth.... Allenby made bogey after finding the greenside bunker with his tee shot. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Woods 12:03 p.m. Tiger Woods has teed off on the par-5 10th hole...Woods is playing with Australian Robert Allenby and South African Trevor Immelman....Woods opened his round with a birdie, and Allenby followed suit......Woods then birdied the par-4 11th after rolling in a 30-foot putt...Allenby then matched Woods by also birding the 11th....Aaron Baddeley has teed off on the par-5 10th and has already made birdie...Lucas Glover has fallen back to even after bogeying the par-3 13th. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Stenson 11:55 a.m. Shingo Katayama is back to even after missing the fairway on the par-4 third hole and pitching back onto the short grass....Stewart Cink has kicked off his round with a birdie at the par-5 first hole...Cink hit his 230-yard approach to 21 feet and two-putted. Henrik Stenson, the Swede who won the first World Golf Championships event of the year in February at the Accenture Match Play Championship, started his round with a par-birdie...Stenson is playing in his second straight event. He finished T22 at Bay Hill last week...Stenson is playing with American Bart Bryant and Englishman Rod Pampling...Bryant and Pampling opened their rounds with back-to-back pars. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Els 11:38 a.m. It didn't take long for someone to eagle the short par-5 first hole, as Ernie Els eagled it after hitting his 217-yard approach to just three feet...It was the first eagle of the year for Els, who is playing in his fourth event of the year...Curtis followed his birdie at the first hole with a bogey at the short par-4 second hole...the par-4 11th hole has already proved tough, as Sergio Garcia bogeyed...Anton Haig made a 6 at the 11th to fall to one-over....Players are playing in overcast skies after the Miami area was hit with light rain in the morning. Players are being allowed to lift and clean the ball before placing it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Curtis 11:25 a.m. Shingo Katayama and Ben Curtis kicked off their round on the par-5 first hole, which measures only 529 yards. The hole is guarded by four bunkers around the green, and Curtis made birdie after getting down in from one of the front bunkers...His play was matched by Katayama, who also made a 4 despite nailing the front bunker. Paul Goydos, playing in the second group of the day, is the third to make birdie from the front bunker...Ian Poulter, playing with Goydos, becomes the fourth man on the day to make birdie from the front bunker. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Garcia 11:15 a.m. Play has kicked off at Doral. Sergio Garcia, Lucas Glover and Anton Haig start on the dangerous par-5 10th hole, which has water all the way down the left side. Garcia, coming off a top-10 last week at Bay Hill, promptly hit a 290-yard approach to the green at the 551-yard 10th, but only made par... Glover got up-and-down on the 10th for birdie after nearing hitting into the water bordering the green. Haig, a 20-year-old from South Africa, also birdied the hole after hitting the 10th green in two. |
