His round included a 10 at the par-5 10th. Henrik Stenson, the Swede who won the first World Golf Championships event of the year in February at the Accenture Match Play Championship, started his round with a par-birdie...Stenson is playing in his second straight event. He finished T22 at Bay Hill last week...Stenson is playing with American Bart Bryant and Englishman Rod Pampling...Bryant and Pampling opened their rounds with back-to-back pars. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Els 11:38 a.m. It didn't take long for someone to eagle the short par-5 first hole, as Ernie Els eagled it after hitting his 217-yard approach to just three feet...It was the first eagle of the year for Els, who is playing in his fourth event of the year...Curtis followed his birdie at the first hole with a bogey at the short par-4 second hole...the par-4 11th hole has already proved tough, as Sergio Garcia bogeyed...Anton Haig made a 6 at the 11th to fall to one-over....Players are playing in overcast skies after the Miami area was hit with light rain in the morning. The hole is guarded by four bunkers around the green, and Curtis made birdie after getting down in from one of the front bunkers...His play was matched by Katayama, who also made a 4 despite nailing the front bunker. Paul Goydos, playing in the second group of the day, is the third to make birdie from the front bunker...Ian Poulter, playing with Goydos, becomes the fourth man on the day to make birdie from the front bunker. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Garcia 11:15 a.m. Play has kicked off at Doral. Sergio Garcia, Lucas Glover and Anton Haig start on the dangerous par-5 10th hole, which has water all the way down the left side. Garcia, coming off a top-10 last week at Bay Hill, promptly hit a 290-yard approach to the green at the 551-yard 10th, but only made par... Glover got up-and-down on the 10th for birdie after nearing hitting into the water bordering the green. Haig, a 20-year-old from South Africa, also birdied the hole after hitting the 10th green in two. |
