PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Jim Furyk (65/PH) and Phil Mickelson (67/PB) share the lead after day two of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am at 12-under-par 132, three shots clear of John Mallinger and Kevin Sutherland.

• Furyk, a 12-time PGA TOUR winner, has now held outright or shared the lead after the second round 13 times during his career. He has carried that lead onto victory twice -- at the 1996 United Airlines Hawaiian Open and the 2003 U.S. Open. Furyk's best finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was T3 in 1998.

• Mickelson, a 29-time TOUR winner-including wins here in 1998 and 2005, has now held outright or shared the second-round lead 23 times in his career. In the 22 previous tournaments, he has carried that lead on to the winner's circle 12 times -- most recently at the 2006 BellSouth Classic.

• The last time there were co-leaders after the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was in 1998, when Tim Herron and Tom Watson shared the lead at 10-under. Phil Mickelson went on to win that season.

• Speaking of Watson, the 57-year-old Champions Tour member is making quite a splash in his first start at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am since 1999. The 1982 U.S. Open champion and two-time AT&T winner (1977-78) is T8 at 6-under 138 after a 68 on Friday at Pebble Beach.

• In addition to Mickelson, how did the other two first-round leaders fare on Friday? John Mallinger shot a 2-under 70 at Spyglass Hill and is three back, but Nick Watney didn't fare as well. He posted a 3-over 75 at Pebble Beach to fall to 4-under 140, snapping his Tour-leading streak of 14 consecutive rounds of par or better.

• Mallinger extended his bogey-free streak to 36 holes and is the only player in the field without a bogey. Other bogey-free rounds on Friday were posted by Jim Furyk (65/PH), Omar Uresti (68/SP), Vijay Singh (66/PH), Ryan Armour (71/PB), Brandt Snedeker (69/PH) and Jim McGovern (67/PB), bringing the total for the week to nine.

• Kevin Sutherland's 9-under 63 at Spyglass Hill equals his career low round of 63 set on five different occasions - most recently during the third round of the 2006 Canadian Open. It represents the first 63 in tournament history at Spyglass and is just one shy of the course-record 10-under 62 held by Phil Mickelson (2005) and Luke Donald (2006).

• Kevin Sutherland's 6-under 30 equals the best back-nine score in tournament history at Spyglass Hill (Luke Donald, 2006).

• Kevin Sutherland (Nos. 16-2/SP) and Tommy Armour III (Nos. 9-13/PH) equaled the best birdie streak of the season with five in a row on Friday. The feat has now been recorded eight times this season.

• Nationwide Tour member Kyle Thompson, playing this week on a sponsor's exemption, moved to 5-under 139 and is currently tied for 11th place. He is currently playing his fifth straight season on the Nationwide Tour and has finished inside the top 75 on that money list each year, but has yet to secure a TOUR card. He came close in 2003 and 2004, finishing No. 25 and No. 22, respectively.

• Long-hitter J.B. Holmes (66) became the first player this week with two eagles in a round, doing so at Spyglass Hill on Nos. 1 and 7.
